Egon and Dönci live together in their own idyllic village, on a small planet far away from Earth. Though both aliens, Egon bears a striking resemblance to a human boy and Dönci is best described as an overweight cat.
While Egon gazes into space from his observatory, he is at the same time diligently hammering together his own spaceship in a run-down workshop. Dönci, meanwhile, spends the wicked time between meals
getting into mischief in a nearby field. But when a bizarre spacecraft crashes on their tiny planet, delivering a message from a distant planet called “Earth”, their lives change forever.
With new purpose and great effort, Egon works to finish construction of their own spaceship. After a few setbacks, following the crash-landed spacecraft’s instructions, they set out towards our solar system and Earth.
But of course their voyage does not go smoothly. They are almost swallowed up by the Sun, the Mercurian sunrise is not quite to their taste, and they are very nearly killed by lightning and acid-rain on Venus. To make matters worse, with Egon asleep, Dönci reprograms the autopilot to take them to frosty Pluto. Before being entirely frozen, however, Pluto’s silly yet amazingly friendly natives save them, allowing them to visit Neptune, Saturn, and Uranus on their way to Earth. On Mars, however, they fall into the clutches of super-intelligent Martians. Dönci is sucked into a Martian spacecraft and examined by their strange x-ray equipment. Fortunately, annoyed by Dönci’s boring and silly nature, the aliens set him free.
Finally, Egon and Dönci arrive at their destination, the “Blue Planet” of Earth. What they find is not what the crash-landed spacecraft described. As they wander around its desert surface, it becomes clear that Earth has been completely abandoned. Almost dying of thirst, they fortunately run into a survivor, who saves their lives and tells them the true nature of the civilization on Earth.
The voyage back home is not without adventure either, as their tiny home-made spacecraft is swallowed by a black hole. We can only hope not forever... |
